The existing layout was working against this home. Opening up the walls between the kitchen and living room was the move that made everything else possible, and once that space opened up, the potential was clear. The renovation covered the kitchen, primary bath, and powder bath, along with all new flooring throughout, and the furnishing scope brought the kitchen and living room together as one connected space.
The kitchen is where the design does its most confident work. White shaker cabinetry runs floor to ceiling with a mix of solid and glass-front uppers, and the island base is finished in white oak to break up what would otherwise be a very white room. The counters and backsplash are a dark slab that runs continuously behind the range, and the range hood is a black statement piece with metal strapping detail that gives the whole space its focal point. Brass pot filler, globe pendants with brass fittings, and a farmhouse sink keep the details warm without softening the overall contrast too much.
The primary bath carries the same balance of warm and graphic. White oak cabinetry with black hardware, marble counters, and a taupe glazed brick tile that runs floor to ceiling in the shower and up the full vanity wall. Octagonal black-framed mirrors anchor the double vanity and tie back to the kitchen's hardware language. The result is a home where every space feels like it was designed by the same hand, even when the rooms are doing very different things.
