The clients already had a home they loved and a life that moved fast. They wanted to build a private compound spa where they could do everything in one place: hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, a full shower, and a dedicated salon chair so they never had to leave the property for a haircut. The goal was to make this addition feel like it had always been part of the house.
That meant working with the existing material language from the start. The travertine running through the main home was extended into the spa so the floors read as continuous rather than added on. For the construction finishes, Fitch Hill Design selected a Calacatta marble for the shower niche, tile that plays between warm and cool depending on the light, and an overall palette drawn from the clients' own aesthetic: well-traveled, globally collected, with a particular love of deep orange and blue. Those colors are easy to get wrong. Here they land as grounded and intentional, woven into the objects and textiles rather than announced by the walls.
The furnishing reflects the same sensibility. Woven globe pendants at varying scales cluster overhead, a sculptural stone coffee table anchors the seating area, and found objects sit alongside art with the kind of casual confidence that takes real intention to achieve. It looks like a place that was slowly gathered. It was carefully designed.
